Postdoctoral researcher
Emile Cavalet-Giors
Emile joined Cereal Genetics and Genomics in 2021 as a PhD student. After graduating in 2025, he stayed in the group as a postdoctoral researcher. Emile is a bioinformatician dedicated to genomic analyses, including genome assembly and population genomics.
Emile graduated from the University of Turin in 2019, working on hazelnut and chestnut genomics. Soon after he started working on wheat, he became fascinated by the co-evolution of the crop along with that of humans. This gradually led him to explore the genome more deeply, searching for further clues about the history of wheat domestication and its subsequent evolution.
Emile's goal is to create tools that leverage the information contained in the wheat genome to trace its anthropological evolution throughout history.
